Positive COVID Test Case
Dear Westchester Baptist Church Family,
I am reaching out to you today to inform you of some very important information concerning our church family. As you know, our church has been conducting two services inside for the last three weeks. Our church has also taken great steps to insure the health and safety of our members to the best of our ability. We have practiced social distancing, asked people to wear masks, and even stopped all congregational singing in our efforts to stop the spread of the virus which causes COVID-19. I am extremely grateful to our deacons, safety team, and many volunteers who have worked tirelessly to help in this effort.
With all these efforts, however, a member has tested positive for COVID-19. Westchester Baptist Church respects the privacy of its members and will keep the name of this person in strict confidence. The person with COVID-19 has been pretty sick, but seems to be handling the symptoms well. This person was last at church on August 9. While they were at church they practiced all our safety protocols. This person also has youth age children who exhibited mild symptoms a few days after returning from camp; however, upon surveying our youth and their parents (part of safety protocol as our youth leadership considers possibility of meeting in person again), the church is not aware of any other person or family member who went to camp exhibiting symptoms. These symptoms were not alarming to the parents at the time, but after this person tested positive they wanted to inform the church. We do not know where the family in question first came in contact with the virus.
Our purpose in giving you this information is not to alarm you in any way. Our goal is to be transparent and open at all times regarding our efforts to keep you and your family safe and healthy. If you are concerned about possible exposure, or concerned as to what steps you should take, we ask that you contact your healthcare provider. Westchester Baptist Church is not qualified to offer any medical advice.
Should more information become available to the church about this situation, or any other covid-19 situation, we will let you know as soon as possible. I am confident you will pray for this person and their family. Please also pray for church leadership as we navigate these challenging times. We appreciate your support and prayers. I pray God continues to bless us all.
Per our COVID positive test case policy, all in-person services, meetings, and events for the next week (Monday, August 17 – Sunday, August 23) have been moved online.
Our COVID positive test case policy:
If someone tests positive for COVID-19 within two weeks of having been to an in-person service or meeting at Westchester, the church will take the following precautions:
- All in-person services and meetings will be conducted virtually in order to potentially let symptoms appear in others.
- This includes Sunday School, business meetings, and all other in-person activities.
- Our Sunday service will be live streamed at 10:30 a.m.
- The church will be deep cleaned by a professional cleaning crew.
